Every album is made from rich, smooth, heavyweight fine art paper and fabrics. My favorite album they offer is the Iris Book, a flush mounted album. Who wouldn’t love them?!

  6. erin - There isn't time to list all the vendors I have used in the past. Many names I can't even remember because they had such little impact on me. But Cypress is the one vendor that has made an impact on me in more ways than one. - I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that when I get a Cypress product in the mail it is going to be perfect. I don't have to bother with returns, imperfections, or bad craftsmanship. - I can call and someone answers the phone. - I can visit their booth at a trade show and get sucked in for hours by all the gorgeous products, and even better, the really nice people! But most importantly, I know that my clients will end up with an heirloom product that will last for generations. And that makes me happy.
    July 1, 2009

  23. Rich Mattingly - My dream assignment... I was a combat correspondent in the Marine Corps for six years and in 2004-2005 I deployed to Eastern Afghanistan to support an infantry battalion as we fought Taliban-loyal insurgents and trained the Afghan National Army and Police the best we could. My dream assignment is to return to the mountains that haunt my dreams so I can do a couple of things - put some lingering demons to rest and get back to the part of my deployment that impacted me the most - the children. The children we met along our patrols, in the villages and valleys, are among the most interesting people I have ever met. They bridge this incredible chasm between their traditional up-bringing and their longing to be a part and on pace with the modern world as they encounter it through our exported military culture and global transmissions. I'll never forget one young boy who sought me out the few times we were in his village near Jalalabad. He studied at the local mosque as all the boys do, but he also had a short-wave radio. One day he asked me to explain the lyrics to a song he had heard by Courtney Love on a BBC station. It was incredible. I want to go back and photograph those children and show those who would be interested in seeing, how they balance their dual existence and toward which extreme their lives turn - to face away from a more modern society they are told is inherently evil or embrace the slim possibility of leaving their traditional world behind, at least intellectually. So, I guess that's my dream assignment, the one that would be the most fulfilling.

But not just the wedding, all the celebrations revolving around the wedding during the week before. That, or spend time with monks in monasteries photographing intimate prayer time and their everyday goings on. Like a fly on the wall...
    July 1, 2009
  34. Lynn Michelle - I dream of photographing my family and being able to capture their essence. I don't think anyone who has shot my parents has really captured them.
    July 1, 2009
  35. paige elizabeth - It's just a dream, because it's not possible. But If I could photograph anything... I would go back and photograph my Granny before she died. I was with her in hospice and helped her through her last week and it was a beautiful experience, but it was before I photographed emotions for a living and I never took the time to make her portraits. Her voice, her laugh, the touch of her hands live on in my memory. But only there. And those memories remind me every day why what we do is so very important. We hold moments still forever.
    July 1, 2009

  52. jen may - I recently competed in a national contest asking that same question, "What's your dream assignment." The contest was based on how many people you could drive to your site and vote once for you, so I lost due to lack of popularity. My dream assignment is to do photojournalism around the world by documenting stories that non-profits are doing. It's my way of uniting all their hard work and showcasing it to others to help raise awareness on different social causes. Currently, I'm doing it on my own and will be going to Cambodia this summer to help an organization that provides free classes to the youth. Their main goal is to encourage their education and to keep their interest by also providing free breakdancing classes if they keep up with their schooling. It's the first of it's kind out their and their called Tiny Toones. I hope I'll be able to capture their story and share it with others. We all need this side of inspiration.
    July 1, 2009
  53. juliet - My dream assignment would be to do a lifestyle session of Johnny Depp and his family at their chateau in France. :)

    July 1, 2009
  55. Shandon Smith - If I could choose anything, I honestly would love to go on a mission trip and photograph the people. They go to places like Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Africa... places full of beautiful people and children.
    July 1, 2009
  56. sharlane - Ooooh, my dream assignment? That's a tough one. It was very easy to say when I was young and still in College: to shoot for Rolling Stone Magazine. Now that I am older and significantly more tired I don't know that I could keep up with a musician's lifestyle. Since this is a dream though..."Kings of Leon", get ready for your close up!
    July 1, 2009
  57. amy martin - Okay....just kidding... I wasnt really thinking outside of the box.... I would love to photograph people and tell thier stories. I have this vision of going to small town and photographing the people that everyone knows. From the local drunk, to the man who bags thier groceries everyday. Then compile the pictures and stories in a book called faces and places
    July 1, 2009
  58. kerri - Dream assignment: traveling to the homes of each of my extended family members, who live across the US, in Italy, Chile and Argentina, to do environmental portraits and compile into a genealogy book.
    July 1, 2009
  59. Emily Engle - My dream shoot would be a fashion-forward wedding, industrial style. I picture a warehouse, downtown with a color combo of white and florescent something. Simple, yet chic! Short dresses and skinny ties, that sort of thing :)

  64. Betsy, La Vida Creations - Dream assignment... that's a tough one! Would love to have one of our really fun couples hire us to do a weeklong post-wedding session in a few countries around Europe. I have such a passion for people and old architecture, that would be fabulous!
    July 1, 2009
  65. Oeil - My dream photo assignment would be a small wedding in Greece or Italy. :)
    July 1, 2009
  66. Gina Leigh - I love this contest! And I love, love, love Cypress Albums. My dream assignment....hmm. Well... there is this certain amazing bride and groom that met with me a few days ago. The are a beautiful couple. She is stunning! They ooze with love for each other. They share many interests, but especially love being outdoors together. They are environmentally conscious. (The groom asked me in our meeting if I was a fellow tree hugger!). They are fabulously artistic. Their engagement session will be in a wooded area, in a clearing of trees, more than a mile away from roads or cars. This is the same location that the groom surprised the bride with an amazing proposal. We have planned a beautiful shoot filled with whimsy...including an antique tea set. And the wedding.... Oh, my. The wedding. In a barn, at a farm, scattered with towering oak trees. Her colors? Green and canary yellow. Yummy. Fun and games for the guests during an extended photo shoot...including cricket. Did I mention how beautiful this bride is? As of right now, this is my dream shoot. I guess I live in the moment. I've spent today hoping to see her phone number pop up on my caller id, because I am waiting for her official "yes" to confirm the date. Oh, please, please, please! As if I'm not being dramatic enough already, TODAY I chose to switch back to film. I just forked over $$ for a Contax 645 to keh.com 8 hours ago. So, to sum all this up, my ultimate dream shoot would include this lovely couple, their lovely wedding, and my lovely medium format FILM camera. And my, oh, my. This couple would LOVE a Cypress Album!! P.S. Jose, thanks a million for pointing me in the right direction regarding film choices!
    July 1, 2009

    July 1, 2009
  68. Molly Michel - I've been dreaming for a long time of spending the day with a ballet company to photograph a "day in the life". That, or following Tom Petty around as his backstage photographer - those would both be dream assignments!
    July 1, 2009
  69. emily - My dream photo assignment, which seems really odd, would be to do a destination wedding with a stunning couple, followed by a trash the dress session in Costa Rica.. The wedding on the beach and the trash the dress on the beach as well, then haul off to a rainforest (cause I know somewhere in there is a natural water slide, and shots from that would be unreal!!). That would be like... perfect!
    July 1, 2009
  70. emily - Dream, right? Well, even though there's no way it could come true, I'd love to shoot a 50's wedding. Like actually IN the 50's, not just a modern couple doing the retro vibe. Non-wedding related, I'd love to travel to Jordan and do a photo essay on the local bedouin tribes.
    July 1, 2009
  71. Hannah Bergman - Although the prospect of singling out a specific photo assignment is rather daunting (there are so many swimming in my head at the moment)... I would have to be honest and forthcoming when I say that this particular dream photo assignment would also be rather impossible. If giving the uncanny opportunity I would jump for joy at the prospect of taking a single photograph of one person everyday from the day they were born until the day they died. Then I would compile a series of flip animation book of the persons subtle changes in age. Aging is such a beautiful and misunderstood process. It would be a lovely accomplishment to change such a worldly misconception.
    July 1, 2009

    July 1, 2009
  76. julia - I am a huge fan of Cypress. I raised my prices a couple years ago so I could incorporate them into my product mix. I have sold several folios and small matted albums but have yet to add a digital album into my mix. Having seen this at WPPI, I was ga-ga over it and quickly walked away b/c I so desired one and just couldn't pay for it yet. This would round out my Cypress offerings well. Dream assignment: Other than going to heaven to check in on dad....truthfully, if money and time were no obstacle, I would love to go to the provinces of the Philippines (my mom is Filipina) and photograph a little girl named Jean-Mae whom my husband and I have been sponsoring for 4 years thru Plan USA. I get snapshots of her growth every year but it's always a crappy snapshot. I would LOVE to check in on her, photograph her community, her family and her -- and then blog about it to continue to raise awareness of this dire need to help the needy! It's always a reality check to be somewhere 'developing' in the world. We all need this now and then. Thx.
    July 1, 2009
  77. Courtney Matevey - My dream job would be to produce a beautiful book with images of families and children who have been effected by autism along with their stories of hope! I would love to be able to produce enough of these books to use in physicians office to educate parents about the signs and symptoms of autism! This would be amazing and would hopefully help start parents on the right path at an early age, making all the difference!
    July 1, 2009

    July 1, 2009
  84. Krysta Manthe - So, I hope this is where we're supposed to attach our comment for the album give-away! My dream shoot would be something straight out of an Anthropologie catalog. I just saw a shoot they did completely under water and my heart was throbbing over it. I loved everything about it. The way the water cut in the photos, the sunflare beaming in, the way the fabric looked weightless. Sigh. I would love to go away to a little village in Italy in the middle of nowhere and do a shoot like this. A girl can dream! Krysta
    July 1, 2009
  85. Darbi G. - I have always wanted to do a photo story on children in foster homes and orphanages. The average age of children stuck in the foster system is around 10 years old. By that time, they oftentimes get neglected because they are "too old" to be wanted by adopting parents. Someday, I would like to do portraits of children, to capture their real personalities, the parts of them that parents would and could love... the parts of them that are buried by the fact they aren't newborns.
    July 1, 2009
  86. andy lee - My dream assignment would be covering everyday news. My dream assignment is to be a true photojournalist.

    July 1, 2009
  92. Aric Becker - My dream assignment is just having great people that are into each other and love photography. No matter where or what I am shooting if they like photography the images will be great. Fancy destinations help but the people make the images not the place.
    July 1, 2009
  93. Emily Abril - Honestly my dream photo assignment would be able to travel around the world and photography dogs different environments.
    July 1, 2009

  97. John Huson - These albums are simple and elegant. I would love to try one. My dream photo assignment would probably be second shooting with Jose Villa or Gene Higa on some destination wedding in Italy or somewhere exotic. I would love to shoot my own destination wedding, but learning from the best in the world while doing it would be pretty awesome.
    July 1, 2009
  98. Kayte Rose - My dream photo assignment: to travel around the country for 6 months and photograph all the different people and create some sort of book. To show people that everyone is different and unique in their own way and beauty is everywhere.

    July 1, 2009
  101. kacy jo - Love that color of blue! My dream assignment would be to document puppy mills, pounds, and humane societies/animal shelters to raise awareness on both the importance of spaying and neutering pets, and adopting from shelters rather than buying from pet stores - the majority of which get their dogs from puppy mills, where the dogs used for breeding and treated cruelly. That was a long sentence... :)
    July 1, 2009
  102. Karie McLain - As photographers, we have such a special place in people's lives. To capture moments, some special, some unique, in that particular time. While I know that photos impact most of my clients, my dream job would be to re-create memories for people who otherwise don't have the means. Examples would include families affected by acts of nature and have lost their belongings, families who are battling the odds against cancer, or individuals who are in a truly unique situation. I already have a dream job, but to see individuals such as this rejoice over their families memories would be amazing; and to know that you could do something that helped ... to me, that's priceless.
    July 1, 2009
  103. Corbin Gurkin - I love the soft palette of the Cypress book cloths - it's so nice to bring color into an album and at the same time maintain a really timeless look. The swatches are subtle and elegant. Lately I've been dreaming of photographing 'wintery' portraits on the north west coast of Denmark...On a trip there, ages ago, I remember seeing these beautiful grey sand dunes and I've been nostalgic for them ever since. The de-saturated pastel feel to the light seemed to make everything glow.
    July 1, 2009
  104. Wendie DeLano - Hi- I just entered the contest but didn't see anywhere to leave my comment but here. Hopefully this is right. 107. jb - Those albums are so beautiful...I almost forgot that I wanted to check them out again after WPPI. Ok, so this might sound corny but after watching extreme home makeover one night with my son, I was so touched by how the family was touched of the new photos of themselves on their new walls...that I instantly wanted that job. I would do it for free day in and day out if it meant making such a difference for families that have been through so much. Life and passion intertwined by such meaning ..brings me peace just wishing about it!
    July 1, 2009

I know this may sound not so dream-like, and maybe it's just because I have a soon to be kindergartener & a 1st grader under my roof, but school pictures are less than fabulous every year. I love the age, K-2nd grade, where kids don't know quite how to smile on cue & so they do the goofiest, contorted smiles known to man...I'd like to record all those & then let them loose for some pictures that will definitely be refrigerator worthy. There you have it! Thank you :) Imagining my dream shoot is leaving me with a smile & visions of toothless grins!
    July 1, 2009
  114. Tabitha Davidson - when I was a child I wanted to be Indiana Jones. This led me to looking through countless magazines like National Geographic and Life. My dream photography assignment would be to document an unearthing of a historical discovery.
    July 1, 2009
  115. Jill Thomas - My dream photography assignment would be a wedding but not any wedding ... the bride would be artistic, she would adore simple lovely details, her dress would be simple and gorgeous. Her ceremony would be outside at a vineyard just before dusk. The reception would be held in a barn that lies on top of the hill at the vineyard. The bride and groom would be fun and there would be dancing! She would want to be different and non-traditional. She would have home-made pies that towered instead of cake. The whole evening would be goreous, simple and warm.

I have always hoped to become well known enough to shoot an ad campaign of portraits of endangered species. I would like to shoot them on backdrops or in studios just like they were celebrities or models, and have the images of their faces run in popular magazines to give a face to what people are accepting to lose.
    July 1, 2009

    July 1, 2009
  135. johnwaire | photo - my dream assignment (from the actual dream assignment contest): i would like to take my wife back to where she was born -- a place her dad said good-bye to forever, vowing never to return. i met my wife (sara) in 2004 in baltimore, md. 2 years later, we were married (twice) and now have an 18 month old daughter. we often think about the chain of events that put us on the same path in life. to get to where we are, my in-laws had to survive the killing fields of cambodia -- stories which you or i can not even begin to imagine. in 1979, sara was born in the jungle...somewhere on the border of thailand & cambodia. the family managed to make it to a red cross camp (in thailand)where they spent almost 2 years before gaining sponsorship to come to the united states. sara recalls stories of eating from a dumpster. in 1981...the family made it to the US, eventually settling into utica, ny -- home sweet home! the story is amazing. the road was difficult. i would love the opportunity to take sara back to where it all began. i'd love for her to meet the relatives that she has never seen. i'd love for them to meet me and our daughter. i'd love for her to see the places where her parents were born...and the places which were transformed by the brutality of the khmer rouge. i am welling up as i write this...imagining the reception...the sights...the sounds....the people. the country continues to struggle. i know we would do everything within our means to make an impact while we were there. the story documented via my lens would help to bring exposure to the many needs in southeast asia....and hold a special place in our hearts forever.

  207. jules - Is this where we submit our dream assignment? These albums look so beautiful in the photos, so much more elegant then the other albums I've dealt with... My dream assignment would be... photographing my college best friend's wedding across the country. Her family had unusual requests, like married friends shouldn't be a bridesmaid (I'm married) and no friend should work at their wedding policy... It's nothing grand as a tropical island wedding, or a beautiful rustic wedding in the forest... but I this would be my dream assignment, to capture the special day my friend has been waiting for most of her life to the guys she's been dating for the last 7 years, through family deaths, and remarriages. I'd have loved to be right there with her, every step of the way, instead of flying 3000 miles to sit in the audience...
    July 1, 2009
  208. Hannah Suh - I have so many dream assignments! Do I have to pick and write bout just one? I would love to one day travel the world and everywhere I went, I would photograph dancers. Dancers in all shapes and forms and styles. As the song Hip Hip Chin Chin says, dancing is the driving force that holds our lives together. Without rhythm your heart wouldn't beat. Without direction, without moves, and without shape. People say that music is the universal language, or math, or even love. But I think Dance can be added to the list of things that humanity shares in common. Everyone, in all parts of the world can experience the joy of movement, and I would love to be able to capture that movement, in all its different forms. That would be a dream assignment.
    July 1, 2009
  209. Lisa Willis - I live for photographing my adorable 1 1/2 year old, Mason. He is my pride and joy. Every morning I get him out of his crib and I swear he aged 3 months over night. That or photograph Brad and Angilina's family but I would do that for free! :) I have been designing an iris album for the past 6 months but have not been able to place my order because of this darn economy. Winning this would be a dream!

My dream assignment -- a simple country wedding in Alessandria Italy This is where my Father's family is from and it would be an incredible experiences to be able to work and shoot something I love... (weddings and the beginning of a new branch of someone's family tree) and have some extra time to take pictures of a place that has a lot of historical significance for my family... It would be so amazing to do a little side project of taking portrait of families that are part of my huge family tree but that are separated by an ocean.

  222. Cory Ann Ellis - I've been using Cypress for about 4 years now, maybe 5. I love them. They are by far my favorite album company to work with. The IRIS is one of my favorites. My dream assignment would be to photograph my Dad's life for a week or so. I don't get to see him often enough and like me he is a workaholic. He is a commercial fisherman in Northern California and has been fishing all his life. I would love to document the preparation, the actual fishing (or crabbing), the sitting and bs'ing with the other fisherman and all other things he does. It would be special for me and my son as well as my sisters and nieces and nephews to have. Cory Ann

  224. Justin DeMutiis - Portraits and Weddings are my current passion and career, yet nature and conservation photography has remained close to my heart. Thus, my dream photo assignment would be to embark on a journey photographing the most endangered lands in North America. It has always been my dream to travel to the far reaches of our continent and spend more than just a vacation. I have always dreamt of spending months witnessing the majesty of glacier carved mountains, hearing the silence of a forest buried in snow, and being able to look up on any given night and be able to gaze upon stars that shine so bright they cast a shadow. Much like the images of the wedding day, photographs of our vast wildernesses and preserves will become a record of the beauty that once was. Just like the moments on a wedding day, the glaciers, the wildlife, the endless expanses of wilderness, and the intimate details of the forest are transient and fleeting. The images from this assignment would be beautiful in their own right, but also serve as a history and a means of preserving our beautiful lands that are so rapidly declining. We hope that our wedding images and albums will become timeless heirlooms that will live on forever. I hope that with an assignment like this, the natural places bestowed upon us will live on forever, for all generations to witness and enjoy.

My dream photo assignment would have me photographing my late grandfather. He was like my dad since my parents were divorced when I was young. I wasn't a photographer when he was alive and how I miss not having any quality images of him. How I would give anything for him to be here and to spend the day with him documenting his life. A more realistic dream would have me documenting a military family's life when the husband (or wife) gets deployed. This would take place over a few sessions and start with them as a family, show the deployment and saying goodbye, include kids birthdays and holidays that were missed while deployed, and end with them being reunited. I feel this could be a very compelling story over an 8 month to 1 year span.
