A couple of weeks ago Ann Hamilton, Gene Higa, Joel Serrato and I took a small vacation in between the busy wedding season. We decided that Mexico would be the best for the amount of time that we had before we had our next wedding.

Mazatlan, Mexico was it, no questions! I was born in Mexico and love the land, people, textures, and light. I asked Ann, Gene and Joel to bring only a holga and no other camera equipment. Sometimes we need to slow down and shoot with cameras that make us think a little, and that take patience to shoot with.

Here are some of my favorite images from the trip.

  1. Ann Hamilton - I LOVE these! It was so much fun to hang with you, Joel and Gene, and play with film for a change! How funny, I think I shot the same soccer ball, too! Can't wait to see our stuff when it comes back from the lab!

  6. Jeremy - Man, once again some wonderful photos with the Holga. How many are you taking to get the 'good ones'? Maybe your Holga still has 2 aperture settings. But I bet it's just your talent. One day I'll make it down for some learning. J

  7. Yazy - Oh my God Jose, these images bring back so many beautiful memories. It's amazing how you can bring back my childhood just as I remember it. Las memorias son algo que nadie puede describir pues son tan perfectas y bellas que es dificil duplicarlas, pero tus imagenes son tan esquisitas y perfectas como en mis recuerdos. Gracias :)
