  1. emma - Most inspirational place to shoot.. for me it would be a beach, because I love the water as a backdrop
    July 1, 2009
  2. DEbi Tipton - Wow! Front and back cover, I can't wait to see the book. Congratulations. We have the good fortune to shoot in Colorado. During the fall we have these amazing warm days where the aspen trees are a perfect gold color and the sky is a stunning sapphire blue. The contrast of the two colors is breath taking.
    July 1, 2009
  3. Jake Easley - i'm hoping that i haven't seen my most inspirational place to shoot yet. i love finding new locations with beautiful backdrops. the cool thing is they can even be found in city locations amongst all the cold concrete and buildings.
    July 1, 2009
  4. Heidi Ryder - The most inspirational place for me to shoot is anywhere love is.
    July 1, 2009
  5. Erica Velasco - I am Erica Velasco of Vision Photographs (erica@visionphotographs.com). The most inspirational place on the planet is hands down sitting on the top of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy. It is absolutely amazing, it's like sitting on top of the world, looking out to the beautiful sunset of one of the most beautiful countries overlooking one of the most beautiful squares filled with pigeons and beautiful people. Top it off with experiencing it with one of my best friends, talking about life, love and everything in between for more than an hour. Ah-Mazing.
    July 1, 2009
  6. Diane Halber - The first place that comes to mind is the bluffs in Palos Verdes. I grew up in San Pedro and used to drive down portugeuse bend just to go sit up on the cliffs and write music. I loved the days when you could see all the way to Catalina
    July 1, 2009
  7. cindy chen - I was a bride three years ago, and now a photographer. The most inspirational location on this planet will have to be New York City, where I called home for 5 years when I first graduated from college. You can find amazing architecture and so much culture in Manhattan, yet you are only minutes away from the peace and quiet of Long Island. Every borough has its charm!
    July 1, 2009
  8. Jenni S Photography - I think the most inspirational place that I have shot is in a city ally way. Exposed bricks, tattered posters, steam escaping from countless potholes and exhaust pipes and magical light filtering in from above and beyond.
    July 1, 2009
  9. Michelle Waters - Spring 2006. Live Jazz in the French Quarter. Pure, unadulterated joy.
    July 1, 2009
  10. erin kate - the tobago cays in the grenadines...four tiny islands among the bluest water i've ever seen.
    July 1, 2009
  11. Randy Kepple - Congratulations on the new book! (major suckup) No, seriously, congratulatons! The most inspirational spot I've photographed in is Santa Fe. There is a creative energy there that is nearly palpable.
    July 1, 2009
  12. Araxi - Oh this one is easy! The most inspirational location on this planet I have ever experienced is my birth place. The little island of Malta. Ill stop there because you said to keep it short and I could go on all day :P
    July 1, 2009
  13. curtoneil - Most inspirational place for me is middle of the night, sitting on the beach or my camp site with fire going at Pancake Bay in Ontario, Canada on the shore of Lake Superior. We're spoiled with the nature we have up here and many people take it for granted.
    July 1, 2009
  14. stephanie - my parents yard in rural wisconsin. the garden, an apple tree, a rusty wheelbarrow, a birdhouse...and so many memories. inspiring and real and all so dear to my heart.
    July 1, 2009
  15. christina - Most inspirational location I've ever experienced to date was the Grand Canyon ... its amazing what God and nature has created over the ages. Close second is the place I'll be visiting this summer -- Garden of the Gods just outside of Colorado Springs. (as for the who, I'm a photographer moonlighting as a CSO during the week)
    July 1, 2009
  16. Annabella brandon - The most inspirational place i have ever been was naharuru, kenya... i was there on a missions trip... being around so many people who have near to nothing. but were so grateful for what they did have, and for what they were given. it really blew my mind. there i fell in love with capturing people.
    July 1, 2009
  17. Tali WIldman - Jerusalem. Most of my extended family lives there, and it's an incredibly spiritual place on so many levels.
    July 1, 2009
  18. jen - Congrats on being featured in the book... love it!
    July 1, 2009
  19. jason huang - most inspirational location on the planet i have experienced has been a small town in the western most province of china. it is a poverty ridden, govt. controlled, 20th century town. i realized the simplicity of its residents and the lack of hope for a better life. their dreams were so small to me, yet so big to them. they're trapped and don't know the depth of pure joy. constantly, i remember how privileged i am and dream of the day they will experience the joy i get to capture and take part in on a daily basis. my experience there will never leave me and will continually inspire me to capture what 'free' joy looks like.
    July 1, 2009
  20. Nelly Soares - I've been shooting for about a year. The place where I get my inspiration from is my children's Catholic school. 50% funded by donations & fundraising, and they rely so much on the community for daily tasks.....you can sit by the front door and watch volunteer after volunteer walk in an out whether to give a teacher a lunch break or to help with janitorial functions...it's wonderful to see that type of continual support and passion for a cause. It makes my heart feel filled, and helps me try to find that passion everytime I shoot.
    July 1, 2009
  21. Kelvin Leung - I'd say Greece. The overwhelming of history, buildings and artistic structure. Plus the ocean around it! Kelvin
    July 1, 2009
  22. nicole wolf - Jose, so proud of you, keepin it real, Contax baby! I have to say the most amazing place I have ever photographed was Lhasa, Tibet. I have never in my life been more moved and humbled to the core by a community of people. As I was walking around the old city at dawn location scouting, on the first morning I arrived, I was brought to tears but the beauty of my surroundings. I felt a sense of overwhelming beauty and peace that I have never felt before. My photography from this trip was stripped down, raw and unveiling, I have never photographed like that in my life but am excited to experience that feeling again!
    July 1, 2009
  23. Erica Adams - When my son was born, we had just brought him home from the hospital, it was my living room and two of the best photographers in the world came in from a trip to Scottland and took pictures of every inch of my baby boy. His big lips, tiny toes, our tender embrace and it will always be one of the most special times of my life. The photographers were Jose Villa and Linda Chaja. It was so inpirational to me to see them document his new life and made me want to be a photographer too :) xoxo Erica
    July 1, 2009
  24. Riz Crescini - The most inspirational place is the Cinque Terre in Italy. These are 4 small villages on the Mediterranean. As you walk through these towns you are bombarded with pastel colored houses and buildings dotting the coast.
    July 1, 2009
  25. Thao Tran - My name is Thao Tran and I just began my photography business. I love to watch the Food Network Show and the Discovery Channel. I am not as fortunate to travel around the world like I want to, but of the few places I have been and found inspirational would be up on top of Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on a clear night. You can see very clearly all the stars above and see the city lights of not only Albuquerque, but that of Santa Rosa and the capital, Santa Fe. It is breath taking to see the natural light above to the city lights below.
    July 1, 2009
  26. Brittney Gazaway - My inspiration... Harris Lane. This is a little two lane back road outside of Nashville, TN. I drive it almost everyday, but each time I see something new in it. Beautiful colors, textures, openess, and endless backdrops. I wealth of inspiration. Congratulations on being apart of this new book, you deserve it... your work is great.
    July 1, 2009
  27. Meghan Aileen - Most inspirational place is New Zealand. I spent 6 months there and camped with glow worms as well as hiked through a rainforest and onto a glacier all in one day. Who wouldn't be inspired by sleeping with real glow worms!!!
    July 1, 2009
  28. Sarah Goblot - While vacationing in Malaysia, our host suggested a side trip to the Cameron Highlands. It was nowhere I had ever heard of, let alone planned to go, but always open for an adventure, I said yes. Wow. Oh very, very Wow. In the high hilltops of Malyasia, where the jungle meets the sky, this is where tea is made. The most luscious, beautiful, naturalistic and geometric place in the world. In the morning...surrounded by by fog, but you are so far up, you are above the fog. The greenest, lushest place in the world. I would do anything to go back. Even save up my money. :)
    July 1, 2009
  29. Jenny Hsieh - I love the nature, not only for the green but also for the lives living among it, different animals would do what they can to survive, to enjoy themselves. This give ms a totally different look in life, the life as we know it isn't whole, look at it from another angle, it's a whole new world!
    July 1, 2009
  30. Chelsey R. - the most inspirational place on the planet for me is Tallinn, Estonia. i spent two very formative summers there and am hoping to shoot there when i go back. very mideval and lovely :)
    July 1, 2009
  31. RV Photography - The most inspirationnal location I ever worked in was one morning on a field. It should have been a perfect sunnny green day but the weather was bad and it had been snowing all night and I have been able to work with untouched snow all over the ground. It was a great location at the moment and did gave me a lot of "creativity room". RV
    July 1, 2009
  32. Michael Connor - The most inspirational place I have ever experienced was being beside my wife as she gave birth to our daughter Grace during an emergency c-section where I watched God bring us all through safe and forever changed. The scariest and most profound moment ever!
    July 1, 2009
  33. Stacey - The most inspirational location on this planet that I have ever been to has to be Tibet. Not only was I geographically higher than I have even been in my life, but it was the closest I have felt to God, the most beautiful landscape that I have ever experienced and incredibly humbling. My photographs cannot even begin to show the emotions and beauty of the land. It inspired my beliefs, outlook on life and my ability to see beauty.
    July 1, 2009
  34. Jonathan Durling - This seems like an amazing and inspiring book that I would love to look through. My name is Jonathan. I am a 18 year old photographer and truly have a passion for learning from the masters. Most inspiring location? The Abacaxis River of the Amazon. I grew up in northern Brazil, and every so often I would go visit my Brazilian sister. It would take two day by flight and boat to get to her home. No electricity, no phone, no pollution, nothing but nature alone. Late at night we would get into a little canoe and it seemed as God has sprinkled powdered sugar over the sky. No other place in the world but in the heart of the Amazon have I seen so many stores. It blows my mind and puts the fragility of my own life in perspective with the awesomeness of Creation!
    July 1, 2009
  35. lisa - I've been a photographer for about 17 years and there's still so much to see and learn and do! The most inspirational place for me to shoot is a place I haven't been to yet. The promise of discovery keeps everything fresh for me - the old places as well as the yet to be discovered...
    July 1, 2009
  36. Jillian - Most inspirational place to shoot... a little place outside of Sooke, BC Canada... right on the ocean... all is silent except for the waves crashing against the shoreline... the only time life is quiet enough for your body to just breath.
    July 1, 2009
  37. Julianne Fishell - One time while driving up Highway One in California, we found this beautiful secluded cove with some caves. There were pebbles and seashells strewn about. It was magic. i think it must have been some super low tide, because, although I have dreamt of that place, I've never found it again.
    July 1, 2009
  38. Samantha - SO AWESOME! I had the pleasure of seeing you at your master class in WPPI this year. You rock! Okay you had asked for my most inspirational location that I have ever experienced not where to shoot. SO I would say that my 1 time visit to Quebec Canada. The old world feel and small brick roads. I did do a lot of shooting while there but I couldn't get enough of the feel while there.
    July 1, 2009
  39. benj haisch - I'm Benj and the most inspirational place in the world for me is a place called Malibu in BC, Canada. I met my fiance there 5 years ago and we're getting married this summer. It is isolated by either a 3-hour boat ride or plane only and the scenery is incredible. google maps for it -> http://tinyurl.com/am4s99
    July 1, 2009
  40. juliet - Gorgeous book! I want it!!! Signed by you of course :) I'm a mom to an almost 10 year old and lifestyle photographer living in the San Francisco Bay Area. The most inspirational location I've ever experienced is the seeing the world through my daughter's inquisitive eyes. Wherever we go, whatever we do, she has the most amazing perspective and an innocent blissful way of expressing her excitement. I love seeing the world through her eyes. Thank you!
    July 1, 2009
  41. nicole - Most beautiful place for photos would be my home state of Tasmania, Australia. There are so many wonderful locations only hours apart. The most spectacular are the cliff grounds just 5 minutes from the centre of town.
    July 1, 2009
  42. Christine Collier - The local library. I am going to college in a small town. Being the city girl I am, the feeling of claustrophobia gets to me at times. When this happens I go to the Corvallis Library. The library is solely run by community volunteers who provide the warmest atmosphere. I will spend hours in there browsing the books in the art, photography, architecture, travel and interior design sections. I am also getting really into the 921- biographies. The power of books and learning from others is amazing when you can't experience it all for yourself- yet.
    July 1, 2009
  43. Ryan Cohen - Most inspiration location for me would be Key West, FL. There is so much - beach, city, cemetery, old fashion mixed with modern and really cool people.
    July 1, 2009
  44. eden - The most inspiration shoot I've done was in Duluth, MN. There were lighthouses and old historic mansions on the hill! We found some sand dunes and tall grasses on the beach. We watched the ships come in and crossed the moving bridge to shoot the second half on a pier! The colors were so beautiful and I loved the cool air. I definitely would love to go back there and do another shoot..
    July 1, 2009
  45. avril - The most inspirational place I ever shot is Qingdao city in China, because there are beautiful old houses, soft beach, and peaceful sea.
    July 1, 2009
  46. Kayleen T. - My name is Kayleen T. live in SLC, UT. The most inspirational place for me is my father's childhood home on the island of Tonga. Seeing where he came from and where he is now inspires me to work hard because he worked hard for us.
    July 1, 2009
  47. r. j. kern - on the alter on my wedding day in 2005... it changed my life forever... and inspired me to pursue my new career as wedding photographer.
    July 1, 2009
  48. Jen@ Green Wedding Shoes - I'm a recent bride who loves photography - just bought my first DSLR and excited to start using it. I also love weddings and have a wedding blog I document ideas and photos that inspire me. The most inspirational place for me is in Hawaii on the island of Maui. There is an old volcano there (Haleakala) you can drive to the top of and watch the sunrise - it was the most magical experience. I'm so happy that my husband was there to witness it with me.
    July 1, 2009
  49. Brittany D. - My name is Brittany and I am a recent college graduate with my BA in Photography and I am trying to get my own wedding photography business off the ground. This book would be an amazing help and inspiration for me starting out so here's hoping I'm one of the lucky two!! =) The most inspirational place for me is anywhere as long as I have my camera. I think inspiration comes from inside for me more than location so I feel it is possible to make a great image anywhere as long as you have the passion and ideas inside of you.
    July 1, 2009
  50. alice - India offers rich colors, smoky soft light, and exotic cultural differences, Brooks Institute of Photography was where my love of photography blossomed, and today the blog-o-sphere offers my imagination lots of stimulus.
    July 1, 2009
  51. jus - I've never done a paying gig in my most inspirational place, but I luhve it with all my heart and hope to make it home again. Bethnel Green, London. This place is amazing, full of character and life and amazing people from all walks of the world. This is the first place I experienced the true meaning of "melting pot", this place has survived so much and I could go on and on...
    July 1, 2009
  52. Krista - Congratulations! An honour well deserved. Hmmm... inspiration as far as photographically speaking - I would say anywhere in the whole wide world as long as there is a story waiting to be told (which is everywhere).
    July 1, 2009
  53. michelle cunningham - i'm visiting my homeland right now (philippines) and i think i may have just found the most inspirational people and the place to shoot. there are 25 families living under a bridge with nothing to their name other than the people the love and the tarp that keeps the wind out of their space. even with nothing they have so much to give. children are abandoned here all the time and these families take them in like they are one of their own. we'll be shooting a "photobooth" of the kids in a couple of weeks for an exhibit. i can't wait to share their stories with everyone. you know... putting a bride and groom in the middle of that smiling crowd of children might just make a good shoot. might have to try that out next time.
    July 1, 2009
  54. erin - first off, congrats! my most inspirational place to shoot would have to be where my hubby and i got married, in the foothills of tuscany, just outside of florence, italy, at a small castle that is hundreds of years old. on my wedding day, dress and all, i had to borrow my dad's 5D and shoot off a few. couldn't help myself! it was just such a special day in a special location with everyone i loved there, i wanted to be the one to capture some of the moments!
    July 1, 2009
  55. Heidi Vail - There is a beach in my hometown that I have been visiting since I was a kid. It is amazing how much the erosion, tides, and wind has changed this beach. However one thing remains constant, whenever I photograph it I am at ease, and feel completely blessed.
    July 1, 2009
  56. Brian Khang - The most inspirational location that I've experienced was in my families home town of Hanoi, Vietnam. My mother's entire side of the family is still over there and back in 1999 I went to visit them for the first time in my whole life. It was amazing to me that even though they didn't have the luxuries that we have, they lived happy. Crowded streets full of mopeds, food vendors feeding people on street corners and a fine line between the wealthy and poor. It was a great trip!
    July 1, 2009
  57. yazy - The most inspirational place is anywhere you see the soft light of the moon, where you hear kids laughing, the sound of crickets in the background and everyone having fun.
    July 1, 2009
  58. elaine - china - there is so much history and color; rustic steps of the great wall, enchanting cherry blossoms in the garden of the forbidden city, and so much life in city with its skyscrapers across the river.. plenty of beauty & inspiration! :)
    July 1, 2009
  59. my. - The cemetery. It's where life, love and peace are celebrated. I used to visit my grandmother there once a week. I would sit on the green hilltop for hours looking at everyone. Some came alone for peace and reflection, some came with their family as if to include the deceased in the family party. Some cried because the loss was still painful, some smiled because letting go is loving eternally. If I ever find the picture of an elderly woman I took there, I'll email it to you. Love your work, Jose! Thank you.
    July 1, 2009
  60. Tiffany - the most inspirational place for me to shoot is my grandpa's house in Taiwan. He built it himself including putting in the most lovely Koi fish pond. There is so much love and history in the place, he is my inspiration.
    July 1, 2009
  61. natt - Hi Jose, it's Natt here from Australia. The most inspiring place I have experienced is Chiang Mai, Thailand. I visited a hills tribe village which turned out not to be authentic. The hills tribe women and children are all real but they have been trained to run to their huts and weave textiles when they see tourists and grin whenever they see cameras. It was sad to think that the children have been destined to live their days putting on a show for tourists. Photographically, it was difficult for me to capture who these people really are and how they really feel about their lives.
    July 1, 2009
  62. Katie Scott - Cinque Terre, Italy. It is by far the more beautiful place on the planet. I loved walking through the five tiny towns, taking in the amazing smell of baking bread and fresh tomatoes, the gorgeous language, and the beautiful music. I went while I was backpacking europe. And, I plan to bring my husband there next year where it'll be even MORE magical (and this time I'll be a photographer so I'll take some good pics too!)
    July 1, 2009
  63. Daisy Varley - Hello. My name is Daisy. My most inspirational location would be on the hospital bed, the day I gave birth to my daughter, Sophia. At that moment and that place, my purpose in life was given a new meaning. My life began that day.
    July 1, 2009
  64. Daniel Hedgecock - At the edge of my kids bed as I hear their heart felt prayers every night.
    July 1, 2009
  65. Tanya Plonka - My most inspirational place was a small town in BC (Fernie) where my dad grew up. I shot a wedding there and hadn't visited it in a few years, and it was so amazing. The mountains are gorgeous, the water is gorgeous, and the historic downtown buildings are gorgeous. I was so grateful to be able to be there again :)
    July 1, 2009
  66. Nathan Walker - I love finding a 'hidden gem' right outside the city limits. Never too far and always full of beauty and endless possibilities :)
    July 1, 2009
  67. sarah - China, for me, was as inspirational as it was unforgettable. Around each corner was another glimpse into another world, another culture. Each person I beheld had a story, and I wanted nothing more than to capture it in my viewfinder. Every street, every window, every noodle stand had me realizing a new depth of cultural difference. To this day I look back on those photographs only to laugh, cry, or sit in silence remembering the people on the other side of the world still living their lives in a way I will never know or understand.
    July 1, 2009
  68. Nino Roy - The most inspirational location happens to be in my own backyard/province of Alberta, Canada. When a trip to Montreal didn't pan out, I decided to explore Alberta for the 1st time on my own by car, foot, bike and white water raft. There is something about man vs the natural elements and mortality. The forests/mountains/rivers/lakes have been around for over 10000+ yrs and will still be around when I'm no longer around. Majestic as it seems, there's still that element of awe, legacy and respect.
    July 1, 2009
  69. Lawrence@Tofurious - If it does not relate to wedding photography locations, then it would have to be under the ocean when I went scuba diving in Cancun - the perspective was amazing! Thanks!
    July 1, 2009
  70. jen berry - can't wait to take one of you workshops. love your work! (typical comment, but earnest and true). most inspirational plae is Taveuni, Fiji. No electricity Island (generator power), one store, no amenities, but amazingly beautiful kind loving family oriented people. would give you their shirt, literally.
    July 1, 2009
  71. kelli - Nashville | TN there is sooo much history in this town- from the Honkey Tonks & neon signs on lower Broadway to the old barns in the countryside.
    July 1, 2009
  72. Melissa Kelsey - The forest of my childhood home in Northern California. Nature, rain, mist, and snow, sun and all the earthy smells are embedded in me. There, I created fairytale stories in my mind. When I go home, I photograph my sister there and it's always beautiful and my true, uninhibited, no-rules art comes out.
    July 1, 2009
  73. Corinna Hoffman - The most inspirational location on this planet that I have ever experienced is Yosemite National Park. I've always wanted to be a photographer for the National Geographic, but alas, became a wedding photographer instead (and don't get me wrong--I LOVE IT!). When I was there with my hubby for our honeymoon, taking pictures of God's beauty around us was such a natural high for me. I felt like Ansel Adams. I also felt small next to the gigantic trees, rocks and waterfalls--but good small! Truly a memorable and inspirational moment in my life :) PS - CONGRATS on snagging the front & back cover!
    July 1, 2009
  74. Brett Jarnagin - I'm a wedding photographer from a small town (under 5,000 people) but I've always been a "city kid." The most inspiring place I've ever been was New York City. It is filled with an energy that I've never experienced anywhere else. Even though just as many people live on a block in NYC as my entire hometown, I felt right at home walking the streets and photographing everything along the way.
    July 1, 2009
  75. Meredith Ward - I am a soon to be bride who is also a just starting out wedding photographer. The most inspirational location that I have ever experienced has been the Cliffs of Moore in Ireland. You can hear and feel the earth moving and breathing. And standing there and thinking about all the people that have stood there before you for thousands of years makes you feel more alive and inspired to be a better person.
    July 1, 2009
  76. megan - The grounds of Blarney Castle near Cork, Ireland. The trees are huge, knotted, knobby and amazing... they don't look real.
    July 1, 2009
  77. stephanie - the most beautiful place i have experienced was cambodia. the country isn't as well known as other asian countries but it is just as rich in culture. the people have so little but were so happy and generous. they knew their history well and were excited to share it with us. the food was unique and full of flavor, the landscape rugged yet beautiful. i'll never forget the nine days we spent there.
    July 1, 2009
  78. Gina DeConti - The most inspirational place for me to shoot would have to be Italy. Just to set foot on the soil where my ancestors are from would be amazing. And of course it's the most romantic place to begin with!
    July 1, 2009
  79. lisa n - Wow!! Most inspirational place: belize! some parts were heartbreaking to experience (e.g., miles and miles of pine trees destroyed by a beetle species), but out of devastation, people begin to notice hidden beauties, the contrast. waterfalls, caves, forests. loved the small towns that we visited. :)
    July 1, 2009
  80. kyle - The most inspirational place I have ever shot at was in a small town called Los Noviciados, Chile. It's low income, rural area, and as a Gringa with a giant camera, I should've stood out like a sore thumb. But NEVER in my life did I feel so welcomed. The people who resided in that tiny little village off of a dirt road behind the airport in out in the middle of nowhere, were so inspiration because they helped me fall back in love with my adopted country again, something that as an expat, I really struggle to with. I wrote about the experience here, if you read it you'll understand why this place was so inspirational to me: http://ohquepasa.blogspot.com/2008/11/memorable.html And I have pics here: http://kyleheppphotography.com/2008/12/05/daisy-valerias-double-wedding-los-noviciados-santiago-chile/ and here http://kyleheppphotography.com/2008/11/23/sneak-peak-double-wedding-daisy-y-valeria-noviciado-chile/
    July 1, 2009
  81. Kim Koluch - The most inspirational place on the planet for me is in the arms of my hubby of 32 years. Without his love and support, I could not do what I do. - Kim
    July 1, 2009
  82. Simon McConico - Who am I? Simon - Photographer, Wisconsin - I shoot stuff Most inspirational location? The town of Carrickfergus in Ireland. The amazing amount of culture and history was to much for my western mind to handle. Everything was green and lush. The houses were old and built by hand. Amazing place. I wish I was a photographer then... I wrote for hours inspired by the people and the place.

  83. briana elledge - Hi my name is briana elledge. The most inspirational place on the planet i have had the good fortune to shoot would be Tela, Honduras. I was visiting with some friends this summer, and was shooting some photojournalistic images, the country was so gorgeous, and the people so nice and welcoming. It was amazing.
    July 1, 2009
  84. Pauline at Elations Weddings - Love the cover. Of course the most inspirational place to shoot a wedding would be Jamaica, West Indies under the falls or on the sandy beach overlooking the beautiful blue water and clear sky while the birds chirp and the couple smiles from ear to ear knowing that this moment is the best moment of their lives and they don't want it to end.
    July 1, 2009
  85. briana - hey there Jose... Last year I had the amazing opportunity to visit and shoot in Boaco Viejo in Nicaragua...the generosity and warmth of the people was framed by the bold colors, rich textures & layers of stories unfolding before me everyday. I have never felt so alive.
    July 1, 2009
  86. GabrielG - A few years back I shot in a Hacienda on the east of Puerto Rico, and everything was amazing. Roosters running around, a bunch of cool locations to shoot in, a photographers heaven!
    July 1, 2009
  87. Patrick Binder - The most inspirational places to me are wherever you are with positive, fun, vibrant people. But a specific place to me was when I happened upon an old shutdown quarry. It was off the side of the highway and had two big grain silos, offices, and a small plant. Everything was grown over and it was a ghost town. There were big machines that were just left behind. The craziest thing was when I walked into the office, they had a bulletin board with papers posted. The most prominent paper was one dated March 27, 1986 that basically said the quarry was being shutdown for good. This reminded me of the last job I had in which the whole office was shutdown and 100+ people were out of jobs and just cemented into my head to forge out and make my own destiny.

  88. Becka Knight (Studio222 Photography) - The most inspiring place in the world is Salerno, Italy. I spent 6 weeks there in college and found God. The ocean laps against the shore and echoes through the walls of every room in the house. The mountains stand as guardians and the sun always sets over them. The wind blows cool and salty and everyone in the small harbor town is unaffected, genuine, passionate, and friendly. I have never been to a more real yet magical place in my life. I am actually eloping there in 2011 (shhhh, don't tell!) ;)
    July 1, 2009
  89. Megan Beth - Most inspirational place to shoot was Cozumel, Mexico. And no, not the beautiful beaches or tourist attractions. It was while we rented scooters and went back off the beaten path, behind where people drop loads of money on houses and the white sand. It was where the poverty stricken streets were lined with one-room homes made with corrugated metal, dirt floors, and no doors. It is there, where the children joyfully played in the streets with no shoes on, and not a care in the world about their social status... Because there, it was home, and that was good enough for them. Puts things into perspective.
    July 1, 2009
  90. mindy peterson - hi i'm mindy- wife, mom, photographer.... nice to meet you. the most inspirational locations on this planet i have experienced is wherever i am with my husband and kids. but europe runs a close second. :)
    July 1, 2009
  91. adri - The most inspiration place on the planet for me is Macau. While I was there, I felt a sense of "Home" in my heart. It may be because both my parents grew up there or because that's where my being started. I can't quite explain the feeling while walking the streets, I just know it felt right to be there.
    July 1, 2009
  92. Stephanie Zettl - Congratulations! I can't wait to see the book. For being a mid-west girl born and raised, to me the most inspirational moments have been standing at the edge of the ocean looking out towards the horizon. It is nature's way of reminding me that the world is so much larger than my anxieties and that my opportunities are limitless.
    July 1, 2009
  93. akwoo - My name is Alan, i'm from Australia. At the moment, my most imspirational location is Cambodia after visiting last December for a mission trip. After being wiped out by the Kymer Rouge, the future lies with the youth - half the population is under 20 years old.
    July 1, 2009
  94. Ryan Flynn - I'm Ryan :). Most inspirational: the Burren region in the west of Ireland. Landscape that moves your soul and hums through your heart.
    July 1, 2009
  95. Jeremy Dueck - Hi Jose, I'm Jeremy D To me photos are about light, and emotion. Therefore a unique inspiration is when I photograph the horizon on the Caribbean Sea - there is no real subject but the light. Just Quiet Light.
    July 1, 2009
  96. Jennifer - I'm Jennifer and I live in the deep south - Alabama. The most inspirational place for me would be in any mountain range. I love the smell of the crisp air, the amazing grandeur of the land and how I feel so small. The view is always too big to take in so you have to sit still and let it speak to you.
    July 1, 2009
  97. Jennifer Creed - I think the most inspirational place I've ever been, especially in regards to photography, is Scotland. Even though the only time I've been there was when I was 10 years old, the history and the beauty was just amazing, and, indirectly, that's where my interesting in photography began. I took so many photos my mom ended up taking away my camera for using too much film haha!
    July 1, 2009
  98. Troy Grover - Emerald City, Ukraine. because of the beautiful Orphanage I went to
    July 1, 2009
  99. Jennifer {Bridal Inquirer} - I would absolutely LOVE to win this book. I just bought my first "real" camera so I am currently obsessed with beautiful photos...and especially wedding photography! I would say the most inspirational place I have ever taken a pic was in the bamboo forest on Maui. But I did live in NYC for a couple years and every day was a journey! Love your photos, btw! :)
    July 1, 2009
  100. Jeannie Heng - for me, it's gotta be beijing, china. i felt such a deep connection to the history, place and especially the people. it was amazing to be in the country where my heritage originated.
    July 1, 2009
  101. Elizabeth Strauss - My most inspiring place is 2003, on the beach at sunset in Sayulita, Mexico. Surrounded by friends, love, and beauty it was the moment that created inspiration; if ever I feel lacking in inspiration, this is where I drift to and find it.
    July 1, 2009
  102. Phat Photographer - My kids' bedroom - first thing in the morning. If you saw their eyes after a good night's sleep you wouldn't have to ask why.
    July 1, 2009
  103. Natalie - Studio N - The most inspirational place for me to photograph is in my clients homes. Your home exudes life, love and personality in every speck of dust...its a great place to get ideas, styles and concepts for your clients.
    July 1, 2009
  104. kristi klemens - First off, what a wonderful gift, thank you! I am a photographer and bride to be... The place that has inspired me the most at this time in my life has been the mission trips that i have experienced in Mexico. Seeing the children in need has inspired me to not take anything for granted, and appreciate and enjoy the life, health and gifts we are given.
    July 1, 2009
  105. Sarah Rachor - My husband and I went on a trip to Utah. I know, not real exciting sounding right? We went to Zion National Park, and it took our breath away. And we went and did an incredible hike called Angels' Landing. You hike up 1500 feet in 5 miles. The last mile is a rock scramble, 1000's of feet above the floor of the canyon. SO scary, but the view at the top is worth the fear of heights. And we shared this journey, both afraid, but both couldn't stop. The most awe inspiring thing I have done, for the most amazing view. Now I just need to find a couple who wants to get married up there and we can do it again!
    July 1, 2009
  106. Sarah - The most inspirational place for me to be, would probably be my mothers gravesite. She always pushed me towards my dreams, including photography. And to be with her - in a way - is inspirational. It's a way to not forget everything she helped my reach for.
    July 1, 2009
  107. Tina Jean Wagner - First, Jose Congratulations on the book, I can't wait to see it. I read the PDN article back in April, I believe I commented then, it was an inspiration. I'm a photojournalist from Chicago. When I finally reached the top of Diamond Head on Oahu in Hawaii I knew I could conquer anything and achieve my dreams. I climbed it within hours of landing on Hawaii for the first time. And I knew something inside me changed. I have asthma and yet I achieved that great climb as one of many unexpected hikes and activities that trip. That island and Diamond Head is where I found my true self and my strength again. I hope to photograph many weddings in Oahu. And I can't wait to bring my family and friends there for my wedding on 11-11-11. The island is forever a part of me.
    July 1, 2009
  108. Heather Jorgensen - I would have to say the most inspirational place I've ever experienced was Tanzania. Going to Africa as a college student was unreal and unlike anything I had ever seen before. The beauty of the land and the people I met there inspired my soul to dream big dreams for the first time in my life! Truly a life-changing experience.
    July 1, 2009
  109. susan yee - hm. that would have to be in china, where my mom grew up. we got to visit the house she grew up in, saw the loft where she slept with her 5 other sisters, and the land that she played in as a child. made me realize everything i had, and everything she did for us. brought me back home.
    July 1, 2009
  110. chris@christopherwrenphoto.com - I'm Chris, and the most inspirational place I've ever been is Gimmelwald, Switzerland. I felt like I was in a different century, surrounded by the alps and small chateaus. It inspired me to never stop exploring and learning in life.
    July 1, 2009
  111. Justin Hackworth - Most inspirational place: Table Rock on the Idaho side of the Grand Tetons. It's hard to get there, but then you're rewarded with a view that lets you see the end of the earth. It's 40 feet below heaven.
    July 1, 2009
  112. Pardeep Singh - I'm Pardeep Singh, a wedding and portrait photographer. The most inspirational place I've been to is Harmandar Sahib (aka the Golden Temple) in Amritsar, India. I hadn't found such peace, inspiration and love anywhere else in the world. - pardeep
    July 1, 2009
  113. miki noriyuki - A huge congrats to you, Jose! I'm a bride to be. The most inspirational place for me is the market, where all the freshest fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, honey, spices etc are sold. When I see the vivid colours of produce, images of the food/dessert I can cook, the dishes I'd use, the smiley faces of the loved ones eating them, and the photos I'd take of them start flashing in my mind. Take care Jose!!
    July 1, 2009
  114. Vanessa Hall - My inspirational place would be life itself and the moments that take place within it. Love your work Vanessa
    July 1, 2009
  115. david - Africa. The birth of hope. We took a holiday to Cape Town, it's slums, safari and then beaches, but the most beautiful part was the hope of the children in the Langa townships. You feel out of place with a camera worth more than what you can see, yet completely safe. Safe knowing there's hope out there which as a Westerner you've become complacent to, too caught up in things that don't matter. The inspiration of hope and unity, joy and love, from the people is simply unmatched by any physical location. Blue shoes and happiness is where the heart- and true inspiration- lies.
    July 1, 2009
  116. gina - hi, i'm a SAHM to 3 kids. i LOVE photography... location: incheon, korea why: because within a radius of 20 miles, you can capture the temples, the sea, the countryside, the city, the forts, i could go on and on... it's amazing.

  118. lizzy - hello, i'm lizzy. most inspirational spot, hands down, is israel. the mediterranean sea, astounding history, a young nation--it's impossibly beautiful & wrought with significance.
    July 1, 2009
  119. Mary Beth - Mary Beth I would have to say Savannah, GA--went there on our honeymoon and it was a perfectly relaxing retreat for us.
    July 1, 2009
  120. Tracy Grant - The most inspirational place in my life was and is Senegal, Africa. I went there in my youth and it changed every fiber of my being. The people were joyful and the sounds and colors were so vibrant. The things I learned there translate into a fresh perspective in every thing I do including photography.
    July 1, 2009
  121. Claudia Hung - Malawi, Africa. Going there is bittersweet. Poverty, sub-level living conditions, HIV/AIDs, a high percentage of orphaned kids -- it breaks your heart. All that is juxtaposed by a fighting and amazing spirit of people who are striving for change in their lives and for the future of Malawi. The struggles of this country take place among beautiful sunsets, high mountains, an endless sprawl of rugged land and a people with such humility that they dub Malawi the "warm heart of Africa". Can't wait til I go again. c.
    July 1, 2009
  122. Alicia Swedenborg - For me it's all about the light! I'm from Sweden in northern Europe and this time a year it hardly ever gets light during the day (horrible, awful and sooo depressing) but in summer the sun never goes down! It just touches the horizon and goes right back up, daylight 24/7! At night the sun is sooo warm and yummy. Makes everyone and everything gorgeous! Alicia Swedenborg, Sweden
    July 1, 2009
  123. Nick B. - Without a doubt it would have to be my friend's tea house, a small cottage he built for afternoon tea beside his house. Every Monday I have a standing 5pm tea time with him. He's 70 years old, has been fighting cancer and I'm afraid doesn't have much longer to live. Every week I sit with him and have tea and listen to stories about things 'I should know' and get to hear about life and things that matter. It doesn't matter how busy I've been, what I've got going on; the world seems to stop during that hour. Every week, just being there inspires (and reminds) me to live life to its fullest and make the most of every moment because we're never promised tomorrow.
    July 1, 2009
  124. atpanda - I dream about going back to Bath, UK. I've been there a few times because of my 'day job' and I'm always amazed by how magical it feels there. The buildings are gorgeous, and inside you can feel how old they are, how many people have walked through them. I adore the public gardens and the worn-down steps everywhere. I've never done portraits there, but if I could pick one place in the world to do it, it would be there. Congrats on the book! That is VERY exciting!
    July 1, 2009
  125. karen - I'm 27, just left my job as an attorney and I'm figuring out what to do next with my life. I love photography, but not sure I can turn it into a career yet. The most inspiring place/thing I've ever photographed is the waterfalls in Iceland - absolutely stunning, awe inspiring, breath taking.
    July 1, 2009
  126. carrie - I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. I used to sit on the hill behind our house and look over the city... watching the planes fly by and imagine where they were going. I decided then and there, when I was 15 or 16 and full of teenage dreams, that I would make it a goal in life to be up there traveling all over as much as I could. I wanted to see as much of the world as I could, so I could expand my horizons far beyond the cozy confines of my hometown. Lots of other teenage goals have faded (thankfully), but that one still remains. I try to travel as much as possible, and I thank the inspiration I gained from sitting on that small little hillside and watching those exciting, mysterious planes overhead.
    July 1, 2009
  127. Aruna B. - The most inspirational place that I have ever seen has to be Manchu Picchu/Peru...I know it sounds kinda cheesy, but my husband and I talked about how when we were kids we couldn't believe that a place like that existed ... so we decided for our honeymoon to go to Peru and hike. It was so rewarding to finally see the same site that we had seen in our social studies books as kids together. Really just the effort of doing it and the people we meet was so inspiring to us.
    July 1, 2009
  128. Rachel Boekel - Prairies, endless prairies. Canola fields bursting yellow and the Red Deer river flowing steadily east below the rhythmic Alberta landscape. A buffalo rubbing stone absorbs the sun. Endless prairies. Can't be beat.
    July 1, 2009
  129. kelli - I am a photographer- just starting out and so happy to have found my way to photography. Congratulations on being a part of this book Jose! Mount Haleakala at sunrise is so stunning and inspirational. It reminded me of God.
    July 1, 2009
  130. coral again~ - Hi dears,it's me again:) just forget one thing important about my inspir place: i met Mr right there when i had been to QingHai lake four years ago, haha~, just let you know, that's a lovely magic place~
    July 1, 2009
  131. annie - I am a photographer from Southwest Missouri. I have a passion for helping people who can't help themselves. Wagner, South Dakota is the most inspiring place I've been. Most of it is an Indian Reservation and these people are barely surviving, yet you still see hope in their eyes and love in their hearts!
    July 1, 2009
  132. Byron Carlson - The most inspirational location for me would be the vibrant city of San Francisco. There is just so much there everywhere. From the spectrum of "characters" on the streets, to the colorful markets, oceanviews, man-made structures, culture... Too much. With NYC coming in 2nd, and South Beach 3rd.
    July 1, 2009
  133. craig - My name is Craig and the most inspirational place on the planet for me is within the four walls of my home, because that is where the most important people in the whole world to me--my three children & my wife--can usually be found. Congratulations on the book and good luck! C.
    July 1, 2009
  134. Sarah Austin - Congrats! Book looks amazing! My most inspirational location to shoot is anywhere there is deep love between the two I'm shooting. Ofcourse beautiful skies, sandy beaches and fields of flowers help, but when the couple is truly in love, that inspires me and eveything else falls to the way side.
    July 1, 2009
  135. analy - My most inspirational place to shoot is Guatemala because I love the culture, the color of the costumes, the textures, the expressions and the natural and slow pace of life. Its almost as if you could capture the scent of the wet soil and the history of a 'lost' culture.
    July 1, 2009
  136. (sorry if this posts more than once)
    July 1, 2009
  137. Jennifer Quen - From the mountains in Tahiti! There are colors there that don't exist anywhere else in nature.
    July 1, 2009
  138. Allison Cox - Hi! My name is Allison Cox and I love photography. Coming from someone who hasn't traveled the world, I would have to say the most inspirational place I have ever shot was in my own college town of Logan, UT. There is an old small ballet studio that has been there for years and years. Something about the nostalgia, smell, light, and sounds has stuck with me to this day. I yearn to find more locations that make me feel that way.
    July 1, 2009
  139. Erin Hanson - The most inspirational place I have ever been is a small cliff in CO named "Diane Mountain." When I was very young my cousin Diane was killed by a drunk driver. Her brother owns a little cabin in Boulder CO we call Blue Sky. Its a place the keeps you in awe of Gods creation. Next to the property is a small mountain that ends in a cliff that overlooks the Rockies. Its a place Diane loved. I will never forget standing up there, looking at the magnificent scene before me, feeling the air wrap around me, and knowing her presence would forever be there.
    July 1, 2009
  140. Whitney - Hello! My name is Whitney and I'm a photographer in Huntsville, Alabama. I just started my business about a year ago & am fully self-taught (or taught by the awesome tips that I find online) and even though business is slowly growing, its growing nonetheless! :) I don't get the opportunity to travel much these days, and have only been about a handful of places in my entire life, but my favorite & most inspirational place to be is right in my backyard. Not necessarily my ACTUAL backyard, but across the street behind my house. I go there & take my tripod and camera to take pictures of the sunset & to think & relax after a stressful day! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3585/3345697324_49931ff9a2.jpg
    July 1, 2009
  141. erin - Beautiful book. I love shooting in the mountains and nature. I love how majestic they are. The beautiful earth is so much nicer than anything manmade.
    July 1, 2009
  142. wen - An island called Sumiainen, in Finland is the most inspirational (and romantic) location I've ever experienced. This is where we go every summer, and where we got engaged 2 years ago, and married last summer.
    July 1, 2009
  143. Curtis Copeland - The most inspirational place on the planet for me was St Lucia of the BWI. My beautiful wife and I went there for our honeymoon last June. The island is breathtakingly beautiful. We stayed at Ladera ( www.ladera.com ). The rooms only have three walls. One side of the room opens up to the jungle and looks out over the jungle and the twin peaks of the pitons. It is quiet and peaceful. Each room has a private little pool and the "roof" of our shower was actually trees! The weather was always around 70 degrees plus or minus 5. It has to be one of the most romantic places anywhere. It is like heaven on earth! Here are some photographs: http://gallery.me.com/curtiscopeland#100944 Thanks for the opportunity to win and to share my blessings! Curtis
    July 1, 2009
  144. Deann B. - The city of Portland, Oregon because of it's vibrancy. The people, the trees & plants, the sense of community; everything has an amazing energy.
    July 1, 2009
  145. Bernadette Uzcategui - My most inspirational place to shoot is downtown Philadelphia. Between the old and the new, the sculpture and the color, the city is filled with endless possibilities.
    July 1, 2009
  146. jared rey - Name is Jared and the most inspirational place I have visited has been in a little town called Ligonde in Spain as I worked in an Albergue. People from all over the world passed by our place as they walked the Camino de Santiago. I was inspired by all the different faces and cultures I encountered and the love that we all got to share with each other.
    July 1, 2009
  147. Yvonne Wong - The most inspirational location on this planet I have ever experienced: the green room on the second level of 1470 Aarhus Drive.
    July 1, 2009
  148. Teresa Goff - my name is Teresa and I am a photographer located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I'm just starting my photography business and I'm so inspired by your work. The most inspirational place that I have photographed was in the hospital delivery room. It was for the birth of my best friend/associate's son. Seeing a new life being born is the most amazing experience and although I've had three children myself, seeing it as a photographer really captures the essence of why it is so important to have these memories captured.
    July 1, 2009
  149. Tim Collins - It would have to be the New Forest in Hampshire, UK. I've lived next to the forest for 23 years, and I constantly find new, exciting features to photograph
    July 1, 2009
  150. jessamyn harris - this came to mind immediately: seadrift, stinson beach, in west marin county, CA. my grandparents lived there, in a private community near the end of the beach, for years when I was a child, and I have so many happy memories of being out there. family, comfort, and exploring the most beautiful natural place I can think of. I don't get to go out much since they moved and then passed away, but every time I do is filled with wonder! (and seals, and birds, and fossilized sanddollars, and sometimes sharks!...) I've always wanted to photograph a couple out there, and am waiting for the right pair to bring... I think you would love it, jose!
    July 1, 2009
  151. jessamyn harris - Congrats! The cover looks beautiful. Let's see.... I think that for me it has to be any place that has old things and old buildings that show how time has treated them. These places just take me on an inspirational rollercoaster(if there is such a thing).
    July 1, 2009
  152. jen may - Congrats, Jose! Thanks for your generosity to share the book with us :) I'm also a photographer enjoying the blessings of each day. The most inspirational location I've ever experienced was visiting my family in Hilo, HI. My sisters and I hiked to a hidden beach where we swam for a couple of hours. While we were in the ocean it started to rain hard, but we stayed in for a little longer for the thrill. Within minutes a huge tortoise emerged out of the water between my sisters and I. And, believe it or not, an end of a rainbow glistened beside us. It was so beautiful we were in shock. Imagine a turtle, a rainbow, swimming in the ocean in the rain with your sisters... It was truly an inspirational experience! :)
    July 1, 2009
  153. Cecile Janicek - (I hope I win because I just love all your stuff!!!!) This would have to be at the Keukenhof in Holland during April.May. Why? Because the flowers are in bloom and after a winter in Holland, this place just breathes a life of its own!!!
    July 1, 2009
  154. Benny Ottosson - I´m a swedish fulltime weddingphotographer. The most exotic place I´ve ever been shooting, is Himalaya. The landscape, the friendly people, the beatiful children, no roads, no cars and no stress :-) It was amazing.
    July 1, 2009
  155. elana - I am a bride to be (June!) and love your work and that of many others in this book. I think that the most inspirational place that I've ever experience would be somewhere I haven't been in many, many years... Burundi, a small country in Central/East Africa where I spent part of my childhood (from age 3 to 8). Many African nations get a lot of publicity but Burundi has rarely been one of them, even as they have experienced great poverty (it's been listed as one of the 10 poorest countries in the world), long-standing civil war (the same tribes as in Rwanda--the two used to be one combined country) and the country is in many ways is very corrupt politically. Although I haven't been able to return since I was 8, living in Burundi and still knowing people there has lead me to constantly leave my eyes open to the world and to the many places that are often ignored or unheard of. I could list endless more reasons why it's inspirational, but I won't because I'm guessing it would be too long a comment!
    July 1, 2009
  156. Lucky Red hen - Honestly, the most inspirational location on this planet that I've ever experienced is in and around a tiny Mexico town called Jalisco. The people are beautiful and humble, reminding me to appreciate the simple things in life. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of that magical place.
    July 1, 2009
  157. Dawn McKinstry - I agree with a lot of people, and hope that I haven't seen my most inspiring place yet. But so far, the best is with a couple with great chemistry. They give me tons of inspiration!
    July 1, 2009
  158. Jenny Martell - The most inspirational place I have been is this little town in Patagonia, Argentina, called Calafate. I visited the amazing breathtaking glaciers and that was something out of this world. I hiked up on the glacier that radiates this magical blue light that mixes up with the blue ski and with the blue lake and on top of the glaciers there is puddles of melted ice that create deeper blue puddles....there is no words to describe how grand nature is!
    July 1, 2009
  159. Katherine Robertson - sitting alongside my daddy as he taught me to draw and paint, and the unconditional love he had for me. helped develop the creative person i have always been and am today.
    July 1, 2009
  160. brooke - Photographer & Bride to Be! I think that any location can be inspirational if you keep your mind open. Sometimes as photographers, we can get wrapped up in the location, but it's possible to create amazing work anywhere when you remember it's really about the subject, the connection & the chemistry.

  161. janna - The most beautiful place I have ever experienced (yes, it was a full sensual experience) is Lake Tahoe. We got there early before the rush of people, and had an entire state park to ourselves, and it allowed me to really take everything in including the warmth of the sun on skin, the sound of the waves hitting the shore, the beauty and bright colors all around me, the fresh air... Just a little piece of heaven! :)

  163. Tammie Kimura - Hi Tammie Kimura from LA! Have been reading PDN for past 5 years so glad that PDN published this wedding book finally! Most inspirational place for me to photograph is acutally "on the streets with people or not" I feel that you can capture the genuine emotions and the essence the best.

  165. Pam Breese - Believe it or not I am inspired by my own home country, Canada! I feel so lucky to live somewhere where we experience each of the 4 seasons at their fullest. From the hottest summer days, to the beautiful colours of fall, then the snowy winters to the renewal at spring. Lucky me!

  166. ami - I'm a young full-time photographer from Vancouver, Canada. Vancouver is indisputably one of the most beautiful places on earth. Between the mountains, ocean and beautiful architecture, this city is an inspiration to any photographer!

  167. Ellie Kurz - The most inspirational locale for me is the ranch where I grew up in central Florida. I can feel God moving there, and I feel connected to generations who supported themselves on that land.

  169. jo ann - Ikaria, Greece. A small island in the sun-drenched Mediterranean. The birthplace of all of my grandparents and my father. Just the thought of it stirs my soul and brings tears to my eyes. It is an integral part of my fabric, it is where I feel most alive.

  170. Christine Tremoulet - Oh, it is *SO* hard to pick just one! I would have to say it is the top of Notre Dame in Paris. Quite a climb, but it is so amazing once you make it. Hidden among the Grotesques (they aren't really Gargoyles), looking down on Paris, at the top of a building so old that it astounds me just to think about how it was built without modern machines. The history, all that Notre Dame has seen ... I feel so inspired to soak it all in.

  171. emma - I am so excited for this book, it has been in my Amazon wish list since I first heard of it. The most inspirational place for me to shoot is any place with nice light. I live in a city that is very rainy and its so dull to shoot in. I love traveling to places that have beautiful light for backlit photographs. Congratulations on the book, I can't wait to get it!

  172. jean - Phi Phi Islands. The beaches are pristine with white sands and blue skies, but scuba dive there and you'll see every happy color there ever was. Wish my camera could come with me... :)

  173. Nikki Tsunemori - All my life I couldn't wait to get out of Odessa, TX. My dad once said, "the benefit of living in such an ugly place is that everywhere you go is beautiful." Since I've been gone almost 10 years, all I can think of is how exhilarating and liberating it is to stand surrounded by 80% sky and see for miles - much like the sea. My inspiration comes from the memory of that place I couldn't wait to leave. I look forward to the day I can return & capture with my camera the essence of the beauty of "the ugly." In the meantime, I gather tidbits of the places I go now...

  174. Oxana - For me the best location on this planet to capture a wedding was a very normal and small village here in Germany, but my sweatheart (and my husband :-) ) was there and it was very inspirational. Br, Oxana Ross

  176. Christine Berry - The most inspirational place on this earth, to me, is by far a little place in North Norway amidst majestic fjords and mountains. Vacationing there renews my soul; the tranquility this place emits surrounds one in a magical way.

  177. Elizabeth - The most inspirational everything for me is family. A place, namely, is a beautiful, little, red cottage in the backwoods of Maine - it's been in my family for generations, and once a year we all visit and have a family reunion. There's nothing else like it! The expressions of love and joy towards a family member are so unique - and those moments, to me, can be captured be no where else.

  179. Jo Pearce - I recently stopped my car by the side of the road and took some shots of a client with some electricity pylons as a backdrop. Inspiration is everywhere it's stopping to see and use it that is the key.

  180. Tina-Louise - Oh..the most inspirational place I have been on this planet was on the edge of the caribbean sea in the Belizian - Garifuna village of Dandriga right where the mouth of the river opens into the ocean. A herd of wild horses crossed through the water right by me with the sun blazing. Oh..I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Going to the Mayan pyramids April 16th! I love Central America! :)

  183. kilee - I would have to say, hands down the beautiful coastal line of New Zealand's black sand beaches. I once visited (after viewing the movie the Piano) and to this day it Piha Beach, New Zealand was probably one of the most breathtaking images I have still engrained in my mind. 186. Joannathan Encarnacion - We are Joannathan (Joanne + Jonathan) of Encarnacion Photography. The most inspirational location we have ever experience is on our couch in the living room. We have a 5 year old daughter who is full of wonders at the moment, and the living room for us is where the magic happens. It's a place where we can travel into a world of pillow shaped fortresses and ships, become pirates, read books about far away lands, watch fairy tale movies, draw pictures, and of course take loads of photographs. You don't need to travel far for inspiration, as it can always be found close to the heart.
