You love what you love. I stopped shooting for a few years because I disliked film so much (Nikon F5/ Mamiya RB67) then got back into photography with the Nikon 1D and haven't looked back. It's just a personal thing. What's funny is that I'm now looking into buying a Contax 645, Pentax 67 or Mamiya 7. I'm not sure if film is here to stay but to shoot film from time is amazing and just nostalgic. :) I love to hate film but enjoy it. Have fun with whatever you shoot with, it'll always be photography no matter which way you slice it..!! :)

Definitely looking to get back into film again. It's been 4 years of digital and hope to bring back some of the magic with the medium format and film again.

First off, i want to just say, bravo! Its not like you need a pat on the back, but i feel i wanted to say it, coming from a digital photographer, and photo retoucher's perspective. Now, i have read, and analyzed everything you said, and the processes you've posted in your images creations. But i really believe that you want to also note, you are a professional. That its not because you shoot film, its because you know exactly the look, and feel you want to achieve, and get it. I really believe that if i was to give you my camera, and we can even throw that Zeiss glass you love at 1.4, and let you shoot, you will still produce the images that have your signature look. Now i understand that like any artist, you chose the medium in which best suits your style, and intensifies the look you are wanting to achieve. LIke film that you use does. By no means am i am film hater, i am seen more often then not in the field with my sinar 4x5, and a light meter around my neck, But i guess my point was that, i keep hearing some many people stating that you cant do that with digital, or all the I heart film blogs.. but these people don't realizes that its at best a medium of choice, not something that you can lean on, or by using film you will somehow be a famous photographer. i am not saying that its by any means what you have ever said, you're an artist. And you are a great one at that.
I too love film, i shoot 8x10, and 4x5 film as much as possible, and my mamiya afd gets more attention then my 5dmark ii... But when a client hires me, I am not always able to use my favorites..
Cheers,
and thanks for writing all that you have!

"I often play a keyboard with the "grand piano" setting. I am a purist and old school girl at heart...which is why I continue to shoot film...and have never embraced digital. You are truly an inspiration in so many ways Jose. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us..."
Can about it more?
