Im jumping with excitement about my very own book, Fine Art Wedding Photography written by the amazing Jeff Kent and published by Random House. So much love, passion, time and energy went into putting this book together. Due to be released on March 29th, 2011

Many semi-pro and professional wedding photographers are looking to “wake up” their style, stay current, and stimulate business. And today, that means lifestyle photography, also referred to as “fine art wedding photography.” Fine art wedding photography isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s a modern approach in which design is paramount. Fine art wedding images are more graphic and stylized than traditional wedding photojournalism, as if they were pulled from the pages of a glossy wedding or lifestyle magazine.

In this book I share how to bring a stylized sense of composition, lighting, directing, and most important, design, to your images, while still keeping them organic and narrative. You’ll learn my technique of capturing the more natural moment after directing the subjects, and tips for getting images right in-camera to avoid the need for heavy postproduction. Final chapters show you how to integrate design through the delivered product, whether an album or slideshow, and continue nurturing clients after the wedding by expanding to baby and family portraiture.

Packed with real-life examples, solid techniques, and loads of images, this book will both educate and inspire photographers seeking to update their work and satisfy a new generation of brides.

I grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley, I know the area, the light and the people. I actually went to High School with Eileen and TJ, it’s just that kind of a place.. When Eileen and TJ called about their wedding I was so excited to be there for them. The gowns are Temperly and Phillip Lim, Toast Of Santa Barbara planned the wedding, Joy Thigpen styled it, Danielle of Brown Paper Design made the AMAZING floral, and Joel Serrato created the emotional Super 8 film that you see above.

While I was down in Mexico for the Mexico Workshop in November, Joy Thigpen, Mar of Team Hair and Makeup and I took advantage of the amazing Mexico light and textures for an editorial shoot in one of my favorite cities in Mexico; Tequila, yes this is also where Tequila originated.. Masks designed and made by my love Karina Puente

Beautiful Gowns by the Amazing Alexandra Grecco
